POD photos are only as useful as their metadata. We rebuilt our POD flow around the questions that come up six months later.
Every operator we talk to has been in this conversation: a customer denies receiving a package six months ago, the operator pulls the POD photo, and it is a blurry image of a doormat that could be anywhere in the country. Photo proof is worthless without context.
What we attach to every POD
- GPS coordinates at capture time (not at upload time)
- Address geocoded back to the stop record for an explicit match check
- Timestamp with timezone (yes, you would be surprised)
- Driver identity stamped invisibly in metadata
- Original file preserved — no recompression
The result: dispute resolution went from a 3-day investigation to a 3-minute lookup. POD photos became the closer in disputes instead of the opener of more questions.
